For the final review of Wash ‘n’ Draw First Year students exhibited their drawings in the First Year Studio Space. By now the drawings showed a much wider range than the initial measured plan and sections of parts and machines.

In his first public lecture at the AA since 1999, Bernard Cache, principal of the Paris-based practice Objectile, and noted theorist of geometry and computational ontology, shared his latest insights on Vitruvius’ classic Tower of Winds, the parametric software TopSolid and other powerful ‘machines dedicated to the production of information’.

Bernard Cache formulated the concept of ‘non-standard architecture’ in Earth Moves [MIT Press 1995]. In 1996, together with Patrick Beauce, he founded the company Objectile in order to conceive and manufacture non-standard architecture components.
